Our Mission
We Firmly Believe that Blindness Should Not Be a Barrier
A person's disabilities should not limit their potential to contribute to society. Blind people have as much potential as anyone, but without the right support their blindness becomes an insurmountable barrier. Their biggest barrier is mobility: because travelling is so dangerous, blind or visually impaired individuals often find themselves wasting away at home.
Thus, our mission is to provide as much support to the blind or visually impaired individuals as we can.
To ensure this, we do the following:
1. We provide a fully fledged Orientation & Mobility programme to the blind or visually impaired. This programme provides blind persons with general mobility training using a cane. Our programme is taught by internationally recognized professionals with postgraduate qualifications in Orientation & Mobility.
2. We source for Guide Dogs for those who qualify. Guide Dogs are given to those who are mobile enough to handle one.
3. We continually work towards greater acceptance of Guide Dogs in Singapore society. We host a range of awareness-raising activities aimed at increasing understanding of the suffering of the blind and the benefits of providing Guide Dogs to those who need them.
