On 1 June 2013, GDAB organized a DUCKTour outing for our clients & their guests. We gathered at the DUCKTour counter located at Suntec City Tower 5 at 10.15 AM. As most of the attendees have not been on a DUCKTour before, everyone was looking forward to a uniquely Singapore experience. It was also a good opportunity for a mini get-together for our clients and the volunteers on that day.
We gingerly boarded the coach and soon we were well on our way, with our friendly DUCKTour guide pointing giving a comprehensive running commentary & letting us in on some interesting facts on the wacky DUCK—this amphibious vehicle that we were on was actually remodelled from a WWII Vietnamese war craft! Then came the moment everyone was waiting for–the moment when the DUCK would descend into the river! Some water splashed into the boat and squeals of laughter and bantering could be heard.
As the boat negotiated the waters of the Singapore River we saw the iconic Singapore Flyer; the spectacular Gardens by the Bay; the colourful floating platform; the majestic Marina Bay Sands; the ‘durian’ Esplanade; and our national symbol–the Merlion, much to the delight of the shutterbugs among us.
After this river tour, the boat then headed back to shore once more. Those who failed to capture good photos had another chance to do so before we reached the ramp.
We then passed by the Esplanade and went through the historic civic district where the Padang, Raffles Hotel and the war memorial Cenotaph stood, before reaching Suntec City again. The one-hour sight-seeing trip seemed to slip by so quickly among good company. All too soon, it was time to say our goodbyes, but not before snapping a few group shots to preserve the memory of an enjoyable morning amongst friends.
We would like to thank our sponsor for this event, David Lim & Partners. We hope everyone enjoyed themselves, and we look forward to having everyone join us again for our future events!
